Sanitary and Epidemiological Service calls for coronavirus prevention measures

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Minsk Region calls on citizens not to lose vigilance and return to compliance with the requirements of personal and public prevention of coronavirus infection, BelTA learned from the Minsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.

With the onset of autumn, vacationers will return to work collectives, students from all regions of the country will come to cities to study, and schoolchildren who will end their summer holidays will sit down at school desks. All this will increase interpersonal contacts, the center noted. Therefore, ignoring the basic rules of prevention can contribute to a significant increase in the number of people infected with viral infections, including COVID-19 (the so-called second wave). In this regard, the Minsk region sanitary and epidemiological service calls on all citizens not to lose their vigilance and return to compliance with the requirements of personal and public prevention of coronavirus infection.

The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service noted that such a massive number of cases of COVID-19, as it was in March-June, is currently not observed in Belarus. Therefore, recently, in society as a whole, as well as at industrial infrastructure, food trade and public catering, consumer services of the population, the alertness about the spread of viral infections, including COVID-19, has unreasonably decreased. "On the part of the public, attention to this issue has practically disappeared, as people have switched to other events taking place in our country. The elementary requirements for preventing the spread of viral infections, including COVID-19, have been massively ignored," pointed the center.

The population should follow the rules of social distancing in public and other places of mass stay of people, use personal protective equipment for respiratory organs (disposable or reusable masks), disposable gloves. Do not touch your face, eyes, mucous membranes and other parts of the body with unwashed hands. It is recommended to wash your hands more often with soap and water (not only after visiting the toilet and other public places, but also after touching door handles, household items, various surfaces), and if this is not possible, use an antiseptic with a virucidal effect to treat your hands (including individual sanitizers). Wherever possible, crowded places should be avoided.
